About the Foundation
Who has a place to stay for cyclists on vacation? In 1984, Vrienden op de Fiets was founded after a notice with this question in the newspaper. To this day, the foundation continues to provide a network of Guest Addresses for active travellers on multi-day cycling and hiking trips. It’s a nonprofit organisation, driven by hospitality and sportsmanship.
What does the foundation?
Vrienden op de Fiets exists because Guest Addresses open their doors. As a foundation, we are handling practical matters and uphold the core values and “home” rules. We do this to ensure we remain a like-minded group of people and that the spirit of Vrienden op de Fiets stays- a spirit of trust, freedom and hospitality.
We also hold these core values in the highest regard ourselves. For example, we love sharing experiences with Friends and Guest Addresses, we organise ourselves as simple as possible, and we operate with trust—which means we don’t use reviews or monitoring tools. And, of course, we’re always available.
